Hello. I just installed the thermostat and when I want to add it to the Google Home app, it asks for the last 4 characters of the serial number, but no place to put them. It's already added in the Nest app, but I cannot add it through 3rd party service.

Google Nest's use of 2 apps for its suite of Google Nest products is an ongoing source of confusion and frustration.
The Nest Learning Thermostat can ONLY be added in the Google Nest app. Once added there, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app, provided that you are signing on to both apps with the same Google (gmail) account and are accessing the exact same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps.

I do use the same account and I installed the Nest app and it took my home that I use in Google home, but no luck.

So, are you saying that you installed the Google Nest app, and it showed the same Google Nest "home/structure" you're using in the Google Home app, and you then installed your new Nest Learning Thermostat in that same Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Nest app, and the thermostat now shows in that "home/structure" in the Google Nest app, but it still does NOT appear in that same "home/structure" in the Google Home app?

I am having the exact same problem

Yes. That is correct

Once you've successfully added the Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app and it appears in the Google Nest app, you should be able to control it from either the Nest app or the Home app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9249866#zippy=%2Cnest-thermostat-e-and-nest-learning-th...).
Sometimes customers find that the thermostat does not appear in the Google Home app because they are not using the exact same Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app that they used to install the thermostat in the Google Nest app, or have duplicate "homes/structures", or are not logging onto each app with the same Google (gmail) account. Beyond that, I don't know why a thermostat installed in the Google Nest app wouldn't appear automatically in the Google Home app. Perhaps you could try logging off of your Google Nest app and logging back in to see if that triggers a refresh and causes the thermostat to appear in the Google Home app.
Otherwise you could try contacting Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp) to see if they're having problems on the Google Nest servers that could be causing this. (I'm just another Google Nest customer.)

In the post below, a customer created a dummy new "home" in the Google Nest app, with nothing in it, saw that it appeared in the Google Home app, then deleted that dummy empty "home" in the Google Home app, and their thermostat then showed up in their original "home". Strange; perhaps creating and deleting the "home" forced the Google Home app to sync with the Google Nest app. There must be a syncing problem.

I just re-added it a couple of times with the home app closed and now it works. Thanks for the help.
