Hi
I recently took up the Tado offer after hearing Nest would no longer be supported. I've got the Tado set up and it's heating my water perfectly. However my Nest thermostat and heat link seem to still be controlling my heating. How do I safely remove them from the system?
Thank you!

hi jelly2026,
to safely remove your nest thermostat and heat link, first make sure your tado system is fully set up and controlling your heating. then you can go into your nest app or account and remove the devices from there. physically, you can also turn off and disconnect the nest heat link from power and your boiler.
if you’re unsure, check your boiler manual or tado’s support docs — removing the nest while tado is active usually won’t harm your system.

Thank you for replying. Tado is definitely controlling my water but I don't think it's controlling my heating - do you think I've installed it incorrectly or should I go ahead and remove the Nest to confirm?

Hi @Jelly2026,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you've recently transitioned to a Tado thermostat and are looking for the safest way to fully disconnect and remove your Nest Thermostat and its Heat Link from your heating system, especially since they still appear to be controlling your heating. I'm happy to assist you with the information requested.
While your Nest Thermostat and Heat Link are still controlling your heating, you must remove the Heat Link from your system. Since you now have a Tado thermostat, the only device connected to your heating system should be the Tado Wireless Receiver. I recommend you contact a technician to remove the Heat Link because this involves accessing your high-voltage system, which could put your safety at risk.
Before doing what I recommended above, you can remove your Nest Thermostat from the Nest app and reset your Heat Link. This prevents them from trying to communicate with your system or the cloud, and you'll find the steps to do so below:
Open the Nest app.
@david642, thank you for the helpful and recommended information provided.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you for this. It's a bit frustrating as the Tado was sold as something that didn't need someone qualified to install and now it seems I need someone qualified to uninstall the Nest.
