When I open the app I can see my thermostat listed but there seems to be no way I can find to control it with the app. How do I do that. It is connected to my wifi

Hi Sandyf1,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. Let's sort this out:

  • Do you see any messages or code on the app or on the actual device?
  • What is the app you're using for your Nest Thermostat?
  • When you tap the thermostat icon from the list, what does it show you?
  • Could you please try using the website to see if you'll encounter the same issue you have on the app?
  • Also, try to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Best,

Jenelyn

I replied two or three times but evidently you are not getting my replies so I am giving up on this website unless I hear back. My reply indicated that I can now use the app but that my thermostat does not recognize that I am at home evidently unless I run upstairs and stand in front of it and wave my hand. The other day I was downstairs in my home for several hours and it was freezing in my house. I finally ran upstairs to see the therm was set at 67 but it was 64 in the house. The heat finally came on after I vigouresly waving at the actual thermostat.

Hi Sandyf1,

Thanks for getting back to us —  I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. Could you please check the home’s location in the Nest app then, verify what products are contributing to Home/Away status?

You can follow these steps:

  1. In the Nest App, go to Settings
  2. Look for Home Away Assist.
  3. Then look What decides if you’re home.
  4. Check if it’s set to Use phone location.

Best,

Jenelyn
