My thermostat has been in heat/cool mode since installing it with a new system in February. Recently I switched it to cool mode and would occasionally open the app or walk by the thermostat and noticed that it had suddenly switched back to heat cool mode on its own.
I thought that it was a glitch. In the activity there was no mention of modes being switched except when I switched it back to cool. I checked everything and have no automatic settings turned on in the google home app.
By chance I noticed that I had set up a few automations with the iOS Home app, if temperature reaches X turn heat cool mode to Y etc. (forgot I did this when playing around)
I deleted the automations and haven’t had a glitch yet. I don’t think iOS home automations are recorded in Google home activity. So if you have a similar problem don’t forget to check Siri Shortcuts and home automations.
