Hello,
Just installed and connected a Nest 4th generation thermostat. However, the internal temperature sensor (and humidity sensor) do not appear to be working. I can turn the set temperature down to 65 and the AC will not kick in. On the display, there is no indoor temperature, just 2 lines. I wasn't planning on using the external sensor, but I went ahead and set it up and connected it. I selected it as the only sensor associated with the nest and with that, the AC will turn on. The display will show the indoor temperature the same as the external sensor (but the humidity reading still only shows two lines.)
I reset the nest and tried it again with the same results. If I disassociate the external sensor, after a period of time, the display will again just show two lines for indoor temperature as the nest itself does not seem able to sense the room temperature. Am I missing something or is my nest defective? Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks for your response.
I have done a factory reset without resolution. I have also tried it with the red wire to Rc.
Appreciate any help you can give me.

Gabriela,
Thanks for your reply. Reset the thermostat twice. Still no indoor temperature reading without using the external sensor. Sunblock was already on, but tried turning off, then on without any success.
