Nest Learning Thermostat Won't Follow Schedule

I have a schedule set to COOL at night for sleep, and HEAT in the morning an hour before alarms.

So, when I go to bed, the thermostat is on COOL.  Even though there is a schedule set for HEAT in the morning, the heat never comes on.  I have to manually turn the heat on each morning.  Why?

The opposite is also true.  The COOL schedule never comes on at night if I forget to switch the system back to COOL after it's done heating in the morning.

This seems pretty basic.  I want it to heat to 68 in the morning and cool to 63 at night. Is the mode the issue? Does it need to be on the "HEAT-COOL" mode?

Thanks.

Hi lilsys3,

Thanks for reaching out in the Google Nest Community forum. To confirm, in what country are you located? Nest Learning Thermostat has two types of schedule, first is the Manual Schedule which seems you want to use, and the other one is the Auto Schedule where it can learn from your routines. Enabling the Auto Schedule might help.

Let's try the steps in this guide:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Nest Sense.
  4. Turn off Auto Schedule.

After disabling the Auto Schedule, your thermostat is expected to follow your manual schedule. You can also check if the plotted schedules are correct.

Best,

Jenelyn
