I had ensured that I turned off the eco settings in the app and on the thermostat. I found that there was another "eco" setting. This would be the home and away feature.
The feature makes sense if you want it to lower the temp when you are not home (although I would argue it costs more to keep having to adjust to a temp when you get home than it would be to maintain a temp to begin width).
That being said, I did not realize the home and away feature was enabled and my house was allowed to lower temp when I was not there, in the dead of winter. What the feature does not appear to take into consideration is the outside temp when determine when to start maintaining the temp. I came home to a house that was around 55 degrees Fahrenheit when the external temp outside was 8 degrees Fahrenheit. My poor furnace has not had a break yet and the house has only made it back to 65 degrees after 5 hours, as the outside temp continues to drop even more.
I think you need to update the machine learning to take the external temp into consideration when using any the eco settings.
