Nest Learning thermostat reading 8-9 degrees (F) to low.

PXL_20230930_030348324.jpgThe image to the side shows three brand new thermometers. This picture was taken about 20 minutes after they were placed. Please see below for troubleshooting steps I've already found and tried. Please let me know if there are any more troubleshooting steps, or what my options are with replacement.

1. Check your thermostat's signal strength value by going to Technical Info > Network.

  •                  On correct network and shows full "bars"

2. Restart your thermostat by pressing and holding its screen for 10 seconds until it shuts down to refresh.

  •                   Have done this twice, no change.

3. Enable sunblock under the Nest Sense settings.

  • Has been from the beginning.

4. Cover the wall with a duct seal compound.

  • Thermostat is in same place as our old thermostat (non-nest) which did not have a problem. I also took the Nest off and taped one of the above thermostats on top of the Nest mount. The thermostat did not show any change, even after 20 minutes.

5. Check if the thermostat is near a heat source.

  • Thermostat is placed in middle of house, nearest heat source (stove) is on an outside wall roughly 30 feet away, and it does not get suspiciously warmer as we walk towards the stove.

Disconnect your thermostat for 24 hours from the reset settings, then reconnect your account

  • We live in a very hot part of the US, and are not going without AC for 24 hours.

Hello Snarlast,

Thanks for posting about the inaccurate temperature reading showing on your Nest Thermostat, and I appreciate you taking measures ahead. I'd be happy to lend a hand in your situation here.

A few questions:

  1. When was the thermostat installed?
  2. Do you have other active Nest thermostats?
    1. If yes, do they show the same issue?
  3. When did the issue start?
  4. To confirm, was a restart or factory reset performed on the thermostat before you got the incorrect readout?

Keep me posted.

Best,
Mark

Thermostat was installed about 4 weeks ago, been troubleshooting ever since. This is my only nest thermostat I have. The issue started as soon as I put it in. This issue was started before factory reset.
