Nest Thermostat - broke and stopped turning on cold air

I bought a Nest thermostat and had been using it for about 2 years. I had the heat/cool off for a week or so because the weather was nice. When I turned on the cold it only blew heat. I had to have a repair man come out and I spend a few hundred dollars to find out that the Nest thermostat died.

  1. In my 47 years I have never broken a thermostat. I have used conventional/hp NEVER did a thermostat die on me but the billion dollar company that owns half the world and is worth billions can't make a thermostat that does not break after a year or so? Google if you can build a quantum computer but not a thermostat that does not break because of a jolt (hey just put a fuhking capacitor on it you idiots.
  2. I CANNOT FIND THE ANSWER TO A VERY SIMPLE QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO YOU HAVE TO TURN THE POWER OFF TO REMOVE THE FACE PLATE???? Not the **bleep** wall or the wires. the face plate.?
  3. Google, if you built this so that it breaks when removed or put back on, just the face plate, then you should have to refund everyone that has bought one because that is absolute bull shise. Just add a component or two to take the jolt. Jesus fing christ i do that for my neopixels and arduino/feather/pi etc. Why can't you?

So in summary:

  1. Google I want my money back for having to replace the thermostat it has only been within 2 years. IT IS YOUR FAULT.
  2. Do you have to turn the power off just to mess with the faceplate? if so you suck google your engineers are idiots. Hire me and I can make your products better because I actually care.

Hi kdfnq,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. To answer your question, you shouldn't have to turn your power off to remove the display of your Nest Thermostat. Please let us know more about the finding of the tech so we can investigate further.
