I have a schedule set, 70F from 6am-6pm.
if for example at noon I want it to be 66F, I turn the dial until it shows 66F and I walk away.
i come back and it’s back set at 70F.
if I change the temp in Google home app, it stays to what I set it.
is this a design / software flaw with setting the temp on this expensive unit ??

Hi @Gizbug,
Hi, Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're experiencing some confusion regarding the manual temperature adjustments on your Nest Thermostat, as the device reverts to your set schedule shortly after you turn the outer dial. I'm here to provide you the information requested.
To help get to the bottom of why your Nest Thermostat is reverting to the schedule after manual adjustments, please provide the information requested below:
Which Nest Thermostat model do you have?
When you turn the dial to 66°F, does the display show a specific message like "Holding until..." or does it simply show the new target temperature?
Have you noticed if this behavior occurs only during specific times of the day or throughout your entire 6am-6pm schedule?
In the meantime, I recommend verifying the tips below:
Keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.
Regards,
Anders

It is running 70F comfort setting now. I turn the dial to set 67 (and it says comfort under the temp) and walk away. Come back a minute later and it’s back at 70F comfort.
again, changing in the app, holds the temp I select
waiting for your response.

1. Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen
2. Doesn't show any specific message. Shows the new target, then after a few minutes its back to what the scheduled temp is....
3. Any time I change this happens. Same thermostat upstairs, does not exhibit this behavoir
4. If by temporary change, then it seems a minute or two then reverting back to scheduled temp is ridiculous.
5. Auto Schedule / Learning is OFF
6. Home/away has nothing to do with this, as that is acting as it is intended.

Hi @Gizbug,
Thank you for your reply and the information provided.
Based on what you mentioned, I recommend verifying that Auto-Schedule is enabled on the affected thermostat and ensuring there isn't more than one schedule set up.
The Google Nest thermostat’s Auto-Schedule uses a series of algorithms and weighted pattern recognition to create a temperature schedule. At first, every adjustment you make is incorporated into the schedule, but over time your thermostat will only incorporate patterns of changes.
You can learn more by visiting the article How manually changing the Nest thermostat schedule affects Auto-Schedule.
Keep me posted.
Regards,
Anders
