Nest Theromstat

GerryD
Community Member

I have the thermostat set to 78 degrees in the cooling mode.  Sometimes it will not start cooling when the room temperature exceeds the set temperature.  Example:  Room temperature shows as 85 degrees.

Hello GerryD,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. Let's sort this out.

To isolate:

  • Does it show any time temperature for how long it would take?
  • Does it show a "Starts in" message when you set a target temperature?
  • Is it the same when activating your heating unit?
  • Does it have a C-wire installed?
  • Gather the power readouts in the Technical Info settings.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I think this issue has something to do with the "home-away" setting and the ECHO temperature settings.  I had home away on but didn't set  ECHO temperatures.

I set up the ECHO temperatures (not sure they are correct) but it seemed to help.   This is in our second home (in PA.) and I had to go home to our house in North Carolina so I turn the system off.

We are going back to PA next month and I will check it out then.

Thank you so much for helping me out with this issue.

Regards

Hi GerryD,

Thanks for the update. You can check the Eco Temperature settings in the Nest app. Make sure that there is a temperature range set so that when the thermostat switches to Eco mode, it'll prioritize the temperature. But please keep me in the loop when you get there so we can check for more settings.

Best,
Mark
