I have a Nest (Display 3.4) that sometimes when it call for heat but the furnace never starts. Display goes orange, as it should, but the thermostat is not sending the voltage to the furnace. I can reboot the thermostat and then everything works as it should. Then, usually, weeks later it happens again. Reboot the thermostat and it works again. This appears to be a software problem. I've never had to touch the wiring to restore the heat function.
The thermostat has software 6.2-27 updated on Sep 20, 2022 23:05.
This issue only seems to be associated with heating. I never had this problem with cooling.
Thank you,
tom

How long have you had this problem? It's only been this winter for me. Does the rebooting of the thermostat get yours to working again?
Thanks,
tom

It’s been happening every other night/early am about 3am for about a month. My heat doesn’t turn on even though the screen is orange and it says it’s heating. Woke up this morning and it was 52*f in my **bleep** house, AGAIN. I’ve turned my unit off, I’ve reset it, everything I’ve tried. I’m now paying an HVAC guy to come out and look at the C wire and if something is wrong with that. If he can’t fix it I’m going with Ecobee and Nest is in the garbage.

Hi Folks,
Sorry to hear about the situation you're experiencing with the heating on your Nest Thermostat. I'm happy to help you troubleshoot.
You can check if there's an issue with the power that the wires are receiving from your system. Use a voltmeter to see if all the wires are getting the correct voltage (it should be 24 volts). If you don't have a C wire, adding one can provide more stable power to your thermostat.
For more troubleshooting steps you can contact our support department via chat or phone using this link Google Nest support.
Best regards,
