Nest thermostat Stops working

Not sure which model I have but if I'm not home,  the temperature goes down.   Away 2 days and it went down to 7 degrees!  If I'm home,  I turn fan on or just increase temperature and it works.  Is it furnace or thermostat?  Should I not a new thermostat? Thanks

Hi, @Lizjane123!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry the temperature drops 7 degrees when you're not home. I'd be glad to help!

To identify your thermostat model, please see this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have. To better assist you, I need some more information. Please answer the following questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the inconvenience started?
  • Is the thermostat displaying any error messages?
  • Do you have a conventional system (furnace and AC unit) or a heat pump system (single unit for heating and cooling)?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Do you have any schedule set?
  • Do you have a Nest Renew subscription, or are you enrolled in the Rush Hour Rewards program?
  • When you're away, does the thermostat switch to Eco mode?

In the meantime, please review this article on Changing Home & Away Routines settings to ensure Home/Away Assist is correctly configured and that no active routines are causing the temperature change.

This information will help me to determine the best next troubleshooting steps.

Please keep me updated.

Best regards,

Ana
