Nest thermostat selection ring not working

Help, my nest thermostat selection wheel has stopped working. The dial turns but nothing on the screen moves I can only press the button which is no help. It has also disconnected from my wifi so I am completely stuck now. I’ve tried restarting it but that doesn’t make a difference. It’s only 5 years old so will be very disappointed if I need to buy a new one.

Maybe the battery is low. You can try remove the Nest from base and use a phone charger with micro usb cable and charge it for a few hours see if that helps.

Do  you have a C wire connected?

Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes it has a cable plugged into the back of it. It was working fine until this week when it ha now stopped responding to a turn if the dial. It has also lost its connection to my wifi so I am completely unable to control my heating now.

Thanks Jake but I have spoken with a lady on the helpline and there is nothing they can do. It is only 5 years old but its completely unresponsive when turning the dial which is rendering it totally useless. I will have to buy a new thermostat but will not be purchasing a Nest again as in my opinion 5 years is not an acceptable lifespan.

I know how important it is to you to control your heat, but the Nest Learning Thermostat's 3rd generation standard warranty lasts for 2 years.
