Nest thermostat won't start after changing batteries

Jewhitehill

This evening my Google home device told me the batteries are low on my nest thermostat. I pulled it off the wall at which time it was working changed the batteries and now it will not turn on. The batteries are brand new out of the box and I have tested them and other devices and they are working. I also checked the breakers and everything is fine.

I finally got it to come back on, not sure how I was rolling the batteries in the battery slot and it came back on.

Sounds like the batter contacts are dirty. I see this with lots of different battery-operated devices

Hey Jewhitehill,

I'm glad that there's no underlying issues with your Nest Thermostat. The problem before might be caused by the batteries not properly inserted or its battery tab wasn’t removed. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

I appreciate your help, Archie, and @Patrick_Caezza.

Best,

Jenelyn
