Nest will not turn on fan manually

I have a nest 4th gen  learning thermostat.  The old wifi thermostat will turn the fan on manually. This one will not. I have a 5 Wire system: red, yellow, white, blue (common), and green. No idea why the fan won't turn on when I activate it in the app or on the thermostat.

Hi Beachlife,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) isn’t turning on your fan when you activate it in the Google Home app or on the device. No worries; help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • What other strange symptoms have you experienced since the problem started?
  • Are there any error messages? If so, what are they exactly?
  • When did you install the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen)?
  • Was your previous thermostat a Nest device? Or could you let me know the make of your old WiFi thermostat?
  • What kind of HVAC system do you have?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Could you let me know what country you are located in?
  • Could you please send me a picture of your energy history to verify the features? You can refer to this article to check the energy history: [How to] Check Energy History for unexpected thermostat behavior.

Besides this information, I will also appreciate you sharing a picture of your current wiring installation.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your kind response.

Best regards,

Virna
