QR code not working and can’t add code manually

I am trying to connect my Google Nest Thermostat.  I have scanned the code on the back of the unit multiple times and it says it’s the wrong code. I have restarted my phone and deleted and reinstalled Google Home. It still doesn’t recognize the QR code.

Try putting in the 6 character code (found next to the QR) manually instead of scanning the QR - that worked for me

Hello Steve380hp,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I’m sorry to know that you are experiencing some trouble with the QR code and the entry key trying to pair on the Google Home app. So don’t worry; I’m more than happy to help.

To add your thermostat in the Google Home app, there are two different ways.

  • Open the Home app.
  • Tap Devices, select Add, then Google Nest or partner device.
  • Choose a home
  • The app will be searching devices that you can add. If it doesn't find your thermostat, select it from the list.
  • Continue with a QR code; you will be able to find it on the back of your thermostat display.
  • If the scan is unsuccessful, you can tap the option Continue without scanning, then select the thermostat you are setting up and use the entry key on the back of the thermostat.
  • Finally, the Home app will walk you through installation

For your reference, you can check out this article related to the concern: Get started with your Nest Thermostat

Additional information:

  • Reboot your device.
  • Try to use another device to pair the thermostat.

If you experience the same behavior after performing these previous steps, please help me out by answering these questions.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Best regards,

Daniel
