Registration of 4th Gen Google Nest thermostat

I have a new 4th Gen Google Nest thermostat and in the thermostat settings, there's a selection for registration which is apparently not done. I need to enter  6 digits of letters.

Via search, I found that those letters are on the backside below the QR code. I entered those but then it says not found. Ive triple checked the letters, no mistake so now what can I do?

Hi joak,

Thanks for posting in the community! I understand that you're trying to set up your 4th Gen Google Nest Thermostat and are running into a "not found" error when entering the 6-digit code.

This issue can be definitely fixed. The problem is usually caused by either a typo that's hard to spot or a mix-up with the Entry Key and the serial number.

To get started, please confirm the following:

  • Is the key you are entering exactly 6 characters long and a mix of letters and numbers?
  • Can you confirm that you are not entering the longer serial number from the back of the device, which also includes letters and numbers?

If you are certain you are entering the correct 6-character Entry Key, please try entering the code again, but this time double-check each character carefully. Sometimes a lowercase "o" can be mistaken for a zero, or a "l" for a "1."

If the issue continues, please try setting up the thermostat with your phone's camera by scanning the QR code on the back of the device instead of manually entering the code. Feel free to check the help article: Get started with your Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen)

Once you have tried these steps, please let me know the result, and I will be here to help you get your thermostat registered and working.

Regards,

Humberto

No mistakes. All are letters and in caps. How do I add photos to this?

Hi joak,

This is an excellent update! Thank you for confirming that all the characters are letters, in caps, and that you've checked them thoroughly. That helps us eliminate the most common cause (a simple typo).

Since the simple troubleshooting steps haven't worked, we need to address the registration issue directly.

Regarding your question about photos: This information is private and we discourage our customers from sharing it publicly.

Since the code’s photo is not practical, let's take an alternate approach to get your device registered:

  • Please try the QR Code scan again: If the manual entry is failing, the QR code scan bypasses the keyboard entry and should work. Can you try scanning the QR code on the back of the device using the Google Home app one more time?

Feel free to share the results, I’m here to assist you.

Regards,

Humberto
