Reinstall asks for 7 digit entry key

I am trying to reinstall my Nest Learning thermostat on the Nest app.  It tells me to type in a 7 digit entry key,

but my thermostat shows WF82SF instead of all numbers.

Hello dianeferlauto,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd love to help.

To generate another code, please try resetting the Account Connection in the reset settings. This will disconnect it from the account and network connection. Once it does, go back to the network settings to reconnect and use the Nest App option to generate another code or scan the code. If the option is not available, please try these steps:

  • On your actual thermostat.
    1. Go to Settings > Reset > Network.
      1. This will disconnect your thermostat from the network.
    2. Restart the thermostat to refresh.
    3. Go back to network settings and reconnect it manually.
    4. Once connected, go to the Nest App option to generate another key or scan the code instead.
    5. If the issue persists, perform a factory data reset to bring it back to its default settings.
    6. Proceed with the initial setup from the thermostat and within the app.

Please let me know if that helps.

Best,

Mark

Hey there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Thanks,

Mark
