I already installed the same Nest device several months ago, and the thermostat will show me the temperature when I approach it. I just installed two more in my fellowship room. Same generation, same everything, but the option to change the nest device to wake up on approach is grayed out. All the settings are the same as the one that works in my office. Did you Google change something in a software update, because as I researched this issue, I found that some had changed their setting to tap, and then when they tried to change it back, it is now grayed out. I hope you can answer this question and don't tell me the first generation doesn't do this because the one in my office does wake on apporach. So, either Google changed something with a software update, or there are some other issues going on. Just in case you want to know, I don't have a C wire connected to either of the 3, but I do plan on connecting them to all three. Again, the one in my office works fine without it.

Hi cougan,
Thanks for posting in the community! I understand that the "Wake on Approach" feature is grayed out on your two new Nest Learning Thermostats (1st gen), even though it works on the same model in your office. I appreciate you confirming that the settings for all your thermostats match. It's definitely confusing when a device you own doesn't have a feature that another one of the same model does. I'm here to help!
To help isolate this issue, I have some questions for you:
Looking forward to your response.
Regards,
Juan
