Anyone Else Experiencing Random Nest Mesh Drops? Let’s Talk Solutions!

Hey everyone. I’ve been rocking a 1st Gen Nest Mesh with multiple points, plus a bunch of smart devices—Nest Cams, Protects, a thermostat, you name it. Lately, though, my Wi-Fi has been dropping like crazy. My cams go offline, and I find myself constantly resetting the router.

I heard about a small device that automatically reboots your router whenever it detects a loss of connection. Has anyone tried something like that? I’m not sure if my Nest gear is just old or if I should focus on a more reliable fix. Any suggestions or similar experiences out there? I'd love to hear what worked (or didn’t) for you!

Hi ronajohnson,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing random Nest Mesh drops and you need to constantly reset the router. Thanks for providing detailed information about your environment to better understand your case. No worries, help is here.

To provide you with better assistance, I would appreciate it if you answered the following questions:

  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • Are you using a Google WiFi router or Google Nest Router?
  • What’s the color of the light on the parent point (ISP router)? Does the device LED switch from orange to teal (or white) continuously?
  • How far are your Google WiFi points from the primary point (ISP router)?
  • Is there a switch on the network?
  • How far are the WiFi points from each other?
  • Could you please check if there are any special characters or spaces in the SSID or password? (special characters, like apostrophes, commas, underscores, quotation marks, emojis, or spaces, might cause connection issues.).
  • Could you please run a mesh connection test for weak WiFi points?
  • Did you ask your ISP to enable your modem in bridge mode?

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
