My WiFi Nest Pro was purchased as a set. I've had trouble with it from the start in that the system separates the home office from the rest of the house, making it impossible to share printers and data sources. I've recently discovered that the 3 point system was supplied with two routers and a point instead of a single router and two points. My questions are 1. Can I make the two router system work as a true nest system, will I need to replace just one of the routers with a point or replace a properly matched router and points?

Hi everyone,
Thank you for contacting the Google Nest Community. I understand you are seeking guidance on configuring your current two-router system to function as a unified Nest network. Specifically, you want to know whether you need to replace only one of your current routers with a Nest Point or replace both routers and their associated Points with a properly matched Nest system. I'm glad to share more information with you.
The Google Nest WiFi Pro and Nest WiFi are mesh WiFi systems designed to provide coverage throughout your entire home. These systems use a main router and one or more additional points to expand your WiFi coverage.
The Google Home app is used to manage and set up your WiFi network. Importantly, the Nest WiFi Pro is only compatible with other Nest WiFi Pro units. If you want to expand your network coverage by adding more devices (acting as points), you must use only Nest WiFi Pro routers or points.
Note: Nest WiFi Pro cannot be mixed with older generation devices like Nest WiFi or Google WiFi.
Feel free to keep posting if you have more questions.
Regards,
Gabriela

I just received mine and haven't set them up yet. However, like the original Google Wifi pucks, the Nest Wifi Pro pucks are all identical. The first one you use becomes the router for the mesh, and you set up the others as mesh points. It is possible to unintentionally set one up as a second router. Factory reset it and add it to your mesh as a mesh point.

The Routers in my set have 2 cable connections on the underside. One is for input (from source of data), the second connector facilitates a LAN connection if desired.
Points have no cable connectors.

Have you connected two points to your modem? They will set up as seperate networks. Only one point should be connected to your modem.

That is what I think is wrong. Except both routers use the same name, That is what hid the issue for 13 months.

Disconnect the point you don't want to use as your main point/router from your modem. Factory reset it and add it to your Wifi network. I hope this takes care of your problem.
Any unused ethernet ports on your points can be used to hardwire other equipment to your network.

I didn't think that through enough. If you have all three points set up, then two will be in a mesh network, and the third will be in a seperate network. The third one is the one to reset. You can manage the two seperate networks in the Google Home app and switch to the one you want to reset. On my iPhone, I press the + near the top right of the screen, then press Home on the next screen, and then it shows all of the networks I am managing.

I'm getting too old for this stuff. When the Google Home app replaced the Google Wifi app, my network was stable and I never spent much time with the new app until the last two days. Maybe you already know, but a short cut to switch between networks is to tap your picture or initial in the top right corner of the Google Home app and then select Switch Home.
