Google Home Speaker Group with Nest WifiPro Wi-Fi 6E

I recently purchased a Nest Wifi Pro Wi-Fi 6E and now my Google Home speaker groups keep failing when using Spotify. The speaker group consists of 7 speakers across the house and they are connecting to different access points. Sometimes Spotify sees them all, other times when the whole home group starts it only sees certain speakers. Is there a way to force all of the devices onto 1 AP (the signal strength should be OK for music) or fix the problem? Thank you.

Hi DaveWechsler,

Thanks for posting on the community!

So sorry to hear the speakers you have are not connecting to the same access point. Nest WiFi Pro uses a mesh network and all the multiple access points work together to provide the best connection. That means that the devices are going to connect to the closest access point to provide you with the best coverage possible.

Even though it is not generally recommended to force the devices to connect to only one access point, there are some things we can try:

  • Strategically move the speakers to a point where they can connect to only one access point.
  • Disconnect all the access points and leave connected to the one you want all the speakers to connect to, after you do that, wait at least 5 minutes and reconnect all the access points again.

I hope this information helps you get your speakers synced together.

Best regards,

Nery.
