After the update, performance reduced by 50%; ISP confirms proper speed up to the modem.

I have good internet speed per google home. However my wifi speeds are way down today. Unsure when I received these updates so it's hard for me to identify if my issues are firmware related. My two Nest points are barely meshed and wifi is a trickle near them.

I have a well-meshed network (great), but I'm struggling with poor performance, which is down about 50% from before I noticed the issue. I even tried setting the router alone, without the access point in bridge mode, but I encountered a performance challenge. Looks like the next step is trying another router, but this is another Google product, and I may have the same concern.

After the update, Internet performance has reduced by 50%. The ISP confirms proper speed up to the modem; however, performance is then completely lost. Worked great until after the update.

My issues may not have been related to firmware. After power cycling my Xfinity modem (bridged) and restarting my nest wifi system (a mix of Google and nest with 4 back hauled and 2 points), my performance at the points returned to about 50% of Ethernet speeds which is what I'm used to. The odd thing is before the network restart even my backhauled routers were terribly slow with wifi.

Thank you. I have tried restarting the modem, router, and access point as well. No change in performance, 50% of what it was before the update.

Hi Folks,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you're experiencing trouble with your Nest WiFi Router and Nest WiFi AP, and that their performance has been reduced by 50% after the update. I appreciate all the troubleshooting efforts you've made. Don't worry, I'm glad to help.

For better assistance, please respond to the following questions:

  • When did the situation start?
  • How often does this happen? is it continuously or intermittently?
  • What's the approximate size of your home or apartment in square feet?
  • Have there been any recent changes in your network setup?
  • How many devices actively use the internet at once?
  • Do you use a modem and router combo?

Please keep me posted on your findings.

Regards,

Byron
