Google Nest Wifi Speeds slow

I have Nest Wifi pro, the latest generation of it and we just got our 1GHz internet connection setup at our new house. I run a speed test on the router and numbers come back looking great.  Anytime using laptop, MacBook, iPhone etc.. the speeds are only about 1/4 of what the router says.  What's going on and is there is a way to correct this?

All of the devices I'm using are newer models so it shouldn't be a compatibility issue that I'm aware of.

Mine are the same.  My download speeds over wifi on the new Nest Wifi Pro at my devices are 1/2 to 1/3 slower than what I experienced using the older generation Nest Wifi Mesh.

I'm in the same boat, just bought the new Wifi Pro 6E I have gigabit ethernet ATT. My eero had no issues reaching 800-900 mbps on speed tests. The built in tests show I have a high connection speed ranging from 100-800 mbps. But when I use speed test by okla or other speed test not affiliated with google I get 100-200mbps seems like the "fix" was over exaggerated. I am about to return the nest wifi and go back to eero I only wanted to get away from eero because of the long update/reboot times as well as when the power goes out the eero doesn't work until after an hour after the power comes back on. But looks like I will have to live with that considering the nest wifi is cutting my speeds more than just in half.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

  • If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
  • Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  • Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  • Turn off IPv6.
  • Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  • Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  • If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Abi
