I want to buy a new mesh wifi router network to replace my existing network. I would like that to be Google Nest Wifi.
But I need to know that the solution will be able to fully support Thread and Matter, including (and especially) Creating (and managing) a Thread network.
Can I know that this feature will be fully supported - and thus be assured that my purchase of Google Nest Wifi will be future proof?
Or are we still in limbo about whether Google Nest Wifi will be able to Create and Manage a Thread network?
I do not want to replace my mesh network with a device that will not enable the creation of a Thread network.

Hello @ehartford
According to this: https://blog.google/products/google-nest/new-in-google-home-io22/ Nest WiFi (among other products) will be able to act as Matter Controllers as well as Thread Border Routers. I don't think those features are fully exposed in the Google Home app just yet, but this seems like a solid commitment to the technology.

The article says:
"Matter controllers will include the original Google Home speaker, Google Mini, Nest Mini, Nest Hub (1st and 2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Audio and Nest Wifi.
Meanwhile, Nest Wifi, Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub (2nd gen) will also serve as Thread border routers, allowing you to connect devices built with Thread — like backyard lights that need long-range connectivity — to your home network."
(emphasis mine).
So, Nest WiFi should support both functions.

I read the article and it says the Nest WiFi will be a "thread border router", but not a "matter controller".
I think that is enough to know that my Yale locks will be able to connect to it once Yale releases the Matter Smart Modules.
