Google Nest Wifi throttled

my google nest wifi is throttled to 100 mbps unless i set it to prioritized in which case I can see 300 MBps throughput.

The network's fairly idle , why is the speed test being throttled in this case? Is this by design?

Hi coolac,

Thanks for reaching out. Wi-Fi speed can vary depending on a few things: the type of device that you are using, the distance between the device and your router or point, the frequency that your devices are connected to, and any physical barriers like walls in your home.

The priority device setting gives a device of your choosing the fastest connection on your Wi-Fi network. When you prioritize a device (like your laptop or Chromecast), your Wi-Fi network reserves more bandwidth for that device to use.

If you are experiencing slow Wi-Fi speed, you can check out the helpful link below.
