Google Wifi - speed throttled - issue with firmware 14150.376.32

My download speed through my modem  is 895 mbps. But after it goes through the Google mesh the wifi is around 150mbps. I have the latest firmware. I looked through the forum and saw the suggestion to change primary dns to 8.8.8.8 and secondary to 8.8.4.4. I tried this and it did not help. I have a new Arris Surfboard Docsis 3.1 SB8200.

Hey Everezt,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet service provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

  • If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
  • Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  • Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  • Turn off IPv6
  • Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  • If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will delete all network data.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Abi

Hi Abi. I tried all of these suggestions as they were listed in other posts. I was a bit disappointed as I invested in 5 Google Mesh Wifis that did not work well. I went ahead and purchased Nest Mesh Wifis to replace the Google Mesh Wifis. This was an expensive upgrade. I guess I will try and sell the old Google Mesh Wifis.
