How to get notifications when my Internet is not available?

Can you help? Unfortunately, Xfinity in my area has become reliable.. I currently don't know the Internet is not available until my kids start to complain.

Is it possible to set up a notification when the Internet is not available?

That's possible yes. See:

Also make sure the Google Home app has permissions to show permissions.

I don't work for Google.

@Griffiths415

If you have an Xfinity router/modem and are NOT using Google Wi-Fi as your router, any such notifications would have to come from Xfinity. We have Xfinity and they don't seem to offer such notifications except in the case of system outages.

We almost never have any outages in our Xfinity internet service. Have you tried talking to Xfinity?

Hello everyone,

I appreciate the assistance, @olavrb and @MplsCustomer

@Griffiths415, thanks for posting. You should receive notifications in your Google Home app once it detects that your Google Wifi or Google Nest Wifi is offline due to the loss of internet service from Xfinity; the same thing happens when the service is back. You can also observe the LED light on your Wifi device to know the status of your network.

If you have other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Lovely

Great, thanks. Thats good that the notification is provided by the light in the Nest, can I get a push notification via the app too?

Hi Griffiths415,

You can enable your WiFi and other Google Home notifications to get alerts when your connection goes offline. Ensure that your phone is not set to Do Not Disturb.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Cheers,
Lovely
