Laptop will not connect to nest wifi but is fine on virgin wifi

I have google nest all over the house which is connected to my virgin router. Nothing has changed as far as I know, but now one laptop will not use nest wifi. It says it is connected and secure but even going on the internet is a problem. Other laptops are working fine off nest wifi, but this one will only use my virgin wifi?!!

Help!

Make sure all drivers and firmware are updated. If a windows machine clear your DNS cache and/or do a network reset on that windows machine.

drivers updated, uninstalled, reinstalled. All firmware updated. Used CMD to clear DNS cache was successful. Done a network reset, forgot nest wifi and tried again. Still not working, yet virgin wifi is fine, nest wifi is fine on other laptops in house??!!

Moved the laptop next to the nest router, plugged it in, unplugged, connected.

Problem fixed??!!

Set your Virgin hub to modem mode. This will switch off all its router functions including wifi. Let your Nest router do all that.

Having 2 routers on the same network is just asking for trouble

Used to have it like this, but had latest virgin router installed and it has been fine for months. Virgin engineer said it would work fine.

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting, @Guacanoele  — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for lending a hand, @kiltguy2112 and @Gren.

Best,
Abi
