Latest Mesh Wifi Dropping Connection updates?

I see a ton of posts related to the Nest - Mesh Wifi (I have AC2200) constantly dropping connections.  For me it started a few months ago and it will drop internet for 5-10 seconds and then comes right back.  It happens a few times each hour.

I see posts suggesting to force the DNS values?  how is that done?  It sounds like this is a firmware issue but is there any planned update?

Hi

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that Nest Mesh WiFi is constantly dropping connection.  I will do my best to help you right now.

To get a better understanding of the situation, please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • Are all the Nest Wifi devices and those that need to connect to WiFi affected?
  • How far are the Wifi points from each other?

Also, if you want change and set the DNS, try to do the following steps:

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Tap Favorites .
  3. Tap Wifi Network Settings Advanced Networking.
  4. Tap DNS.
  5. Select Custom, then enter "8.8.8.8" and "8.8.4.4".
  6. Tap Save.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

Thank you.  Nothing shows on the network as going down but my windows laptops and iphone and ipads will drop the connection for 5-10 secs as often as every 30 minutes.  The mesh devices are all about 20-40 feet apart and show excellent connection with the Mesh Tests.

I did see there was a firmware update not long ago to address many reported problems like this.  Does this apply to Google Nest Wifi? I do not have the pro version.

Hi ,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. I'm sorry to hear that the issue is still not resolved. I'm happy to continue assisting you right now.

I appreciate the time you took to perform the troubleshooting steps. For the next step I recommend to do a factory reset. After you factory reset a device, you'll have to set up your router again.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Gabriela
