NAT loopback problem on Google Nest Wifi pro

stefanmechelen

So we've got a router/modem from Telenet in bridge modus (it's the modem from my local internet provider called Telenet (Belgium).

Behind that is a Google nest wifi pro router in NAT modus.

And there's a second nest wifi pro router acting as an Acces Point in bridge modus.

I've got 3 Synology nas devices. Each pointing to a post,

nas 1 --> 5001

nas 2 --> 5015

nas 3: --> 5025

I've 3 ports open in Gogole Home wifi settings 5001-5001, and so on.

Now xxx.myds.me:5015 works fine from outside my network. but not from the inside.

Some people say it's nat loopback (which I didn't have on my previous google nest wifi setup by the way).

How do I solve this because it's driving me crazy?

How are the Synology NAS-es connected? By wire to an unmanaged switch behind the primary Nest Wifi unit?

I don't work for Google.

Yes. I could manage the netgear switch, but I left it unmanaged.

What exact switch? What do you mean by "I could manage the netgear switch, but I left it unmanaged"?

I don't work for Google.

The switch ain't going to be the problem and I meant exactly what i said, it's a manageble switch from netgear but I use it unmanaged. The problem is the Google Nest Wifi Pro router not handling nat loopback properly.

Alright, I've understood now that the lack of NAT loopback in itself is a peoblem with Nest Wifi Pro reported by multiple.

Using a managed switch could be too, but if you disable conflicting features like loop detection/ prevention, and forward BPDU prevention, it should be good.

I don't work for Google.

Yes please, still doesn't work to reach my nas from within the nework using the xxx.myds.me:xxxx (port number) which worked like a charm with the previous google wifi Nest

Hi stefanmechelen,

Could you try to connect the second Google Nest Wifi Pro directly from the main point instead of the switch. This is to isolate the issue.

Best,

Mel

there's no cable in my living room and there's only one direct nat connection possbile to my knowledge from the isp's modem to the google router
