Nest Wifi Pro - LAN Port suddenly stopped working

Hello,

I have for several years had two Nest Wifi Pro points in my home. One where the internet comes into the house and is the main router and then one in my office as a mesh point.

I have also for years connected an ethernet cable from the mesh point LAN Port to my desktop PC, I rearranged the office and everything is totally normal, white solid light and it is connected to the network after being plugged back in except the LAN port is no longer working. I checked the cable and made sure that was not the issue, it is not, for some reason I cannot connect the ethernet cable to the back of the mesh point, It was working fine forever, I unplugged it, moved it, and then it just stopped working

Any ideas? Im on wifi and its fine I just got faster speeds connected to the mesh point directly.

Thanks!

Hi JS75,

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the LAN port on one of your Nest Wifi Pro points. Let's try to figure this out together.

To get a clearer picture of the situation, could you please clarify a couple of things for me?

  • When you say "(I cannot connect the ethernet cable to the back of the mesh point)," could you describe what happens when you try to plug the cable in? Does it feel loose, not go in all the way, or is there some other issue?

Also, to help us isolate whether the problem lies with the Nest Wifi Pro point itself or perhaps your PC's Ethernet port or the cable, could you try these steps if possible?

  • Do you have another device, like a laptop or another desktop, that you could connect to the LAN port of the problematic Nest Wifi Pro point using the same Ethernet cable? This would help us determine if the issue is with the point's port.

  • Could you temporarily swap the Ethernet cable from your main Nest Wifi Pro router's LAN port to the LAN port on the office mesh point and see if your PC (or another device) can get a wired connection through it? This would help rule out a faulty cable.

If, after trying these tests, the LAN port on the office mesh point still isn't providing an internet connection, then a factory reset of that specific point might be the next step to try. Here's a link to the instructions for factory resetting your Nest Wifi device: Factory reset your Wi-Fi device. After the reset, you'll need to set up the point again within your Google Home app and then test the LAN port.

Please let me know the results of these checks and tests. I'll be here to help you further based on what you find.

Regards,

Kevin
