I recently purchased Nest WiFi router with one point, seems to be working good for now. My only concern is the lack of ethernet ports! My one ethernet port from the router feeds an 8 port ethernet switch in another room, my wife works from home and we have several computers (Windows and Mac) plus printers, in short we have a lot going on! Would my speed be reduced to much if I added another switch box? We have 1gig download coming into the house, or can anyone offer other solutions? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hello @britman98
I currently have a fairly significant switched Ethernet network in my home, all built off of the single LAN Ethernet port on my Google WiFi primary unit. I have an 8-port Ethernet switch connected to the primary's LAN port, which feeds a few local devices as well as runs to a few other locations in the house (my entertainment center, my office upstairs, and another office on the first floor). Each of those remote locations has at least one more Ethernet switch to feed multiple devices in those areas (e.g., for the entertainment center, my receiver, my AppleTV box, and a Chromecast Ultra). In my upstairs office, I actually have two switches, with a small 5-port switch downstream from another 8-port switch in order to handle everything. In all, I have 5 unmanaged Ethernet switches in my network, and it all works just fine.

Hi, britaman98.
It looks like you and MichaelP were able to get this worked out. That's great to see. I just wanted to check in to see if there's anything else you might need or if you're all set here.
Thanks!
- Jeff

Thanks for checking in Jeff, so far so good, touch wood! I did this a few years back and adding a second switch severely dropped the speed off the first switch so i was hesitant to do it, thats why I asked, maybe internet technology has improved since then. So far everything is good! Thanks again.

That's great, britman98.
Before marking this as resolved, I'll leave this open just a little longer so we can make sure things stay working in good order. If anything changes, let me know.
Thanks,
- Jeff
