New Xfinity Router - Google Hub Home will not conncect

The issue is not using Google Wifi or Nest Wifi. It will not work with the Xfinity Router. I am using the Albertswifi, which is my original setup wifi when I installed the first router. This router will not take any wifi connections except mine, Xfinitywifi, and Xfinity Mobile Wifi. The Google Nest Hub Max will not connect to any of the wifi's mentioned. I have to use WAP 2 or WEP security. I now have it set to WEP because the Home Hub will not work on WAP 2. I have done all of what Google says to do through the information given. Restarting the router several times, putting in different wifi connections, using WEP or WAP 2, all do not work, including resetting the Home Hub itself to factory settings. I have run out of options.

Hello @crowstouch,

Thank you for posting on the community. I understand the connectivity problems you are facing with your Google Nest Hub Max after installing the new Xfinity router. I want to thank you for the troubleshooting, including restarting the router, testing different security protocols, and even performing a factory reset on the Nest Hub Max. You are right—you've covered all the core steps, so now we need to look closer at the specific network configuration the Xfinity router is enforcing.

Here are the next steps based on the advanced network configurations you mentioned. We will start with the step that is easiest to test and provides the clearest diagnostic result.

To figure out if the issue is the Nest Hub Max itself or a setting in your Xfinity router, we need to temporarily take the router out of the equation.

Try This Quick Hotspot Test:

  • Grab another mobile phone or tablet that has cellular data.
  • Turn on its mobile Wi-Fi hotspot feature. This creates a temporary, clean Wi-Fi network.
  • Try setting up your Nest Hub Max on this new hotspot network.

What we learn from this:

  • If the Nest Hub Max connects to the hotspot and completes the setup: Fantastic! The Nest Hub Max is working perfectly, and we know the connection issue is entirely due to a setting on your Xfinity router. We can then focus on the fixes below.

If the hotspot test is successful, we know we need to adjust some settings on your Xfinity router. You'll need to log into its administration page, which is usually done by typing 10.0.0.1 into a web browser on a device connected to your Wi-Fi.

Once you're logged in, here are the settings to check:

  • Look for "Client Isolation": Sometimes called AP Isolation, this setting is meant to keep devices separate for security, but it also prevents your phone (running the Google Home app) from finding and talking to the Nest Hub Max during setup. Please make sure this is disabled. Also, since you have an Xfinity router, try temporarily disabling the public Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot—this can sometimes resolve the isolation issue.
  • Check on MAC Filtering: If your router has MAC Address Filtering enabled, it's blocking any device it doesn't recognize. Look in the security or access control area and turn this feature off temporarily. If that fixes the connection, you can always go back later and manually add the Nest Hub Max MAC address to the approved list.
  • See if a VPN or Proxy is Active: If you have any advanced settings like a VPN or proxy server running directly on the Xfinity router, please turn them off for a moment. These configurations can interfere with the secure connection the Nest Hub Max needs to establish with our services.

Please let me know how the mobile hotspot test goes. That result will guide our next steps!

Regards,

Kevin
