Point Set Up

Set up the first 2 with no problem but the app doesn't give me the option to setup the 3rd. Tried deleting and reinstalling the app but no luck. When searching for a device it keeps flipping to a screen asking what do I want to setup. Not sure if all 3 must be done at the time of initial setup and why I couldn't do it. Wifi is working fine with the two and I'm afraid to fool with resetting for fear of losing all of them. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello bjan59,

Thanks for posting. Let's see what's happening.

A few questions: what kind of Google Wifi device are you trying to set up? Is it Google Wifi, Nest Wifi or the Nest Wifi Pro? Are you in the same home structure in your Google Home app where the other router and points are?

We'll wait for your update.

Best,
Abi

I have the Google Wifi AC1200 Mesh Wifi System. When setting up I got the first two going no problem. I don’t think I was prompted to setup the third or if I was I may have clicked no more to add by mistake. Not sure. I can’t get back to install function on the app. Would I have to reset it all and start over? I’m hesitant to do that and possibly lose internet. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Hi bjan59,

Here are the steps to set up your Google Wifi point:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Add > Set up device > New device.
  3. If prompted, choose a home.
  4. The app should find your Wifi device. Tap Yes to continue. If you have multiple devices available for setup, select the device you'd like to set up as a point > Next.
  5. Scan the QR code on the bottom of your device.
    • Hold your phone about 5 in (12 cm) away to scan. Learn more tips for scanning QR codes.
    • If you're unable to scan the QR code, tap Continue without scanning, then enter the setup key on the bottom of your device.
  6. Your point should now connect.
    • Note: For Nest Wifi points, when you get a sound from your speaker, tap Yes.
  7. Follow the in-app instructions to finish setup.
  8. If you'd like to add another point, tap Yes in the app when prompted or repeat these steps at a later time for additional points.
  9. Once you've added all of your Wifi devices, the app performs a mesh test to confirm everything works.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Abi
