I am wanting to set up a VPN wifi router behind my google nest.
I had this config working but recently it stopped. I could not figure it out so i reverted teh VPN router back to default onfiguration to restart over and troubleshoot.
I do not get very far with it.
The router is running DDWRT with its WAN port connected into a switch that is connected to the nest wifi. Everything on that switch connected to the nest wifi works perfectly.
The DDWRT router has default config - this should allow me to connect through the DDWRT and the nest wifi router to the internet but I do not to the internet.
When conencted (hardwired or by wifi) to the DDWRT router, i get a connection, i can ping the LAN port of the VPN router and I can see that it is connected to the nest wifi i has an ip address i can ping and i can ping teh hext router on its .1 default gateway address.
But when i ping an ip address on the web, the packets are not successful - this whether i ping the ip address or by DNS name. I can see also that the dns is being resolved to an ip address.
When i connect to the nest wifi, i can ping the internet address by its ip address and by its domain. There is something blocking this traffic and i thin its the nest wifi.
it was working - all fully configures with VPN and then stopped - i dont know if there was an update to nest wifi but I do not recall doing anything that would have caused the issue and i just cannot fathom why standard default config DDWRT would exhibit these symptoms.
appreciate any ideas folks have.
