Google Home App "widgets" display the temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit

For a while I have been having an issue with the Google Home App ”external” and “internal” ambient temperature widgets displaying the temperature in Celsius even while the Google Home App under Google Assistant/Gemini Weather setting is set to Fahrenheit. Even the “external” ambient temperature widget of the Google Home App is displayed in Celsius.

My two Nest Hubs (One Max and one 1st Gen) display the correct “external” ambient temperature in Fahrenheit on the main Home Screen. But the “internal” ambient temperature widgets in the rooms pages of both Hubs are not displayed at all. Not even in Celsius. I just get a rotating circle. All devices respond with the correct “external” ambient temperature in Fahrenheit when using “Voice” commands, but all of my Google Home devices respond in Celsius when querying  via Voice the “internal” rooms temperatures from the “internal” ambient Temperature and Humidity sensors. The “internal” humidity readings of the sensor are displayed correctly in the widgets of the Home App and on the room pages of the Nest Hubs..

Let me describe my devices and apps environment.

1x Nest Hub Max (Home), 1x Nest Hub (1st Gen) (Both Hubs running firmware: 28.20250723.103.2100300) – 1x Nest Mini, 1x Home Mini and 1x Original Google Home (Minis & Home running firmware: 3.77.505721).

IKEA Devices (Sensors used for internal ambience): 1x IKEA DIRIGERA Hub (Firmware: 2.866.4), 1x VINDSTYRKA (Firmware 1.0.010) and 3x TIMMAFLOTTE (Firmware: 1.0.21). Note: I had the VINDSTYRKA for a long time as it displays Air Quality, Temperature and Humidity, but recently bought the TIMMAFLOTTEs Temp/Hum sensors as they were just $9.99 each and to verify that the issue was not with the VINDSTYRKA.

Software: Google Home App version 4.5.56.2, Google App version 16.52.59 and IKEA Home Smart App version 1.57.1. I run these apps on a Samsung S24+ Android 16 firmware version S926USQS4CYL1.

The IKEA Home App is set to Fahrenheit and it along with all the physical devices display the “internal”  temperature and humidity correctly

Following are the things that I have tried and still get the same result:

  • Delete Cache & Data of all these apps and rebooted phone
  • Removed all the apps, rebooted, re-installed re-tested one app at time and rebooted again
  • Plug and unplugged all the Google and IKEA devices
  • Unlinked and linked the IKEA service and all other services.
  • Changed the Weather settings under Google Assistant/Gemini to Celsius and Fahrenheit for long periods of time.
  • Change the location settings in my Google Account to several locations. (Manually and using Map location) Also checked the location setting in the Samsung software in the S24+

I also tried several permutations of the above and connecting and reconnecting several devices. Including changing the Internet connection to an old router.

Someone told me that the only supported functions according to this Google Development Center page (https://developers.home.google.com/automations/supported-devices) the only supported functions are:  humiditysetting, sensorstate, temperaturecontrol, but since I’m not a developer, I don’t know what to do with this information.

I’m at the end of my rope here. I believe this is an issue related to the Home App and the developers of the Google Home App need to coordinate with the developers from IKEA to iron out these “fundamental” issues . Below are some relevant pictures and screenshots.

It is similar to how a snow day tracker might pull data from multiple weather sources and display inconsistent results if one source reports in Celsius while another reports in Fahrenheit.

I also have the same question. I’ve noticed similar inconsistencies with the Google Home App and IKEA sensors, where the internal temperature either shows in Celsius despite the settings being Fahrenheit or doesn’t display at all. Like you, my Nest Hubs show the correct external temperatures, but the internal sensors seem to be ignored or misreported in the widgets, even though voice commands can sometimes give the right readings. It’s really confusing, especially when all the device firmware and app versions are up to date.

I’ve tried many of the same troubleshooting steps clearing caches, unlinking and relinking services, reinstalling apps, and even switching weather settings back and forth yet the internal temperature widgets still behave inconsistently. It seems like a deeper issue with how the Google Home App reads data from IKEA sensors, or how it interprets unit settings. I’d love to know if anyone has found a reliable workaround or if this is something that will require a coordinated fix from Google and IKEA.
