[Matter] Device cannot be commissioned to Google Home through iOS

Hi,

We are facing the issue of commissioning our Matter device to google home through iOS device will be 100% failed.

Here is our test summary regarding the issue:

  • TestCase1 [OK]: Commissioning our Matter 1.4.0 device to Google Nest Hub 2 by Android device
  • TestCase2 [NG]: Commissioning Matter 1.4.0 device to Google Nest Hub 2 by iPhone13 or iPhone16 (see log
  • TestCase3 [OK]: Commissioning our Matter 1.3.0 device to Google Nest Hub 2 by iPhone13
  • In TestCase2, we noticed that device was first commissioned to iOS(Apple keychain) then iOS opened a commissioning window again to commission it in Google’s ecosystem, and the device was failed at above step 2, so we also tried:

    1. Commissioning the device to Apple Home works as expected, next share the device to Google Home app on iOS, this also fails.
    2. Commissioning the device to Apple Home works as expected, next share the device to Google Home app on Android, this works as expected and device pops up in Google home of iOS as well.

Could you help check what's the issue of TestCase2?

Append the environment of our testing:

    • NestHub 2 version, system firmware version: 28.20250723.103.2100300
    • Google Home APP version 4.3.51

Thanks so much for reaching out on this. Could you please open an issue tracker here (Public Trackers > Smart Home, Template - Matter) and mention the above details. Attach the relevant video of the issue along with app and device logs to debug this further with our engineering teams.

For App logs we recommend filing feedback immediately upon reproducing the issue.

  1. Open the Google Home App.
  2. Tap on your account icon in the upper right.
  3. Select Feedback
  4. Allow the app to access all device logs.
  5. Include a unique phrase in your feedback and note it for later(so we can locate it in the system)
  6. Very briefly explain the issue and send.

For Device logs(sysdiagnose) please follow the steps below:

  1. Reproduce the issue. Important: Note the date and time issue occurred and add this information to your report.

  2. Trigger a sysdiagnose by simultaneously pressing and releasing both volume buttons + Side (or Top) button.

    Notes:

    • The sysdiagnose is triggered upon button release.
    • On an iPhone you will feel a short vibration when a sysdiagnose is successfully triggered.
  3. Wait 10 minutes for the diagnostic gathering to complete. <------- Very important, otherwise capture incomplete.

  4. iOS: Go to: Settings.app > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data > (Locate the sysdiagnose file and  attach to the issue tracker)

If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.
