2 nest hubs not working independently of each other

I have two Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen) smart display units in my house, one up in a bedroom and one in my living room. The issue I am having is as follows:
When setting them up I am trying to link them to two different Spotify accounts but I’m not given the option. I can set one device up correctly with no issues but when I go to set up the 2nd unit it comes up linked to Spotify already. If I unlink it and reset it up with the 2nd Spotify account it will change the 1st device as well. I want the two units to be linked to two different Spotify accounts but I’m not able to do this. The only way I can make this work is to cast through my chromecast but then I have to use my phone to change songs or search etc… if I say “hey google” it will change the other unit as well. This defeats the purpose of the device. I need them to work independently of each other. I’ve factory reset both units and am still having the same issue. I spoke to someone with support on the 25th but I don’t think they even understood what my problem was. Their only response was to factory reset both devices, which I have already done. Please help!

Hi Shill789,

Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community.

We can only link to one Spotify account per email. So if you already linked a Spotify account to your email, what you can do is invite another email as a home member and link the other Spotify account. Each account should have Personal results and Voice match enabled so that Google Assistant can recognize which account it should use to execute the command.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions in mind.

Regards,
Alex

  • The two devices are set up to different email accounts and different Spotify accounts. Even when just using “hey Google” both devices are affected. They should work independently but they won’t.
