All my google home devices having issues.

I'm having a ridiculous amount of issues with the Google Home devices I own.

I have 10 total Google Home devices.

  • 1x Original Google Home Speaker.
  • 2x Google Home Mini (Gen 2).
  • 4x Google Home Mini (Gen 1).
  • 1x Google Home Hub.
  • 2x vertical oblong Google home things.

ALL of them are suffering from the same problems, which started about two months ago.

Have unboxed a brand new mini yesterday, it also suffers from these same issues.

The problems are:

  • Complete freezing (not responding to touch or voice, requiring unplug/plugin to fix)
  • 4 lights getting stuck on flashing at random for hours on end, only clearing after giving the command "Stop Listening" See video here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/WzYL88WAP5FxLb3m8
  • 1/4 of all commands are met with a 30 second long pause before responding: "Something went wrong, try again later", repeating the same command immediately after works.
  • Can no longer tell the difference between my voice or my wife's voice. (we don't even sound remotely similar).

Internet is supplied by a fibre optic connection, through TP Link Deco M5 Mesh wifi.

Have factory reset one of the devices to test if that will fix it, no effect.

What's going on? Did Google release an update that is just straight broken? How can this be fixed?

Mine are not exactly the same although some similar problems.

I have a Google speaker pair in the front room, 2 displays and 2 minis in different rooms.

They all work for a bit when reset but then all start acting up at the same time.

The Google speaker pair seem to carry on working fine when it happens but none of the speakers will hear anyone say "ok Google", the screens are clearly still online as they show online information, the Google minis will work again if I turn the mic off then on again, the screens however will not start working if you turn mic off then on, they just need to be restarted.

I have been wondering if it's something to do with my network as my router and modem are provided by my fibre optic network supplier, they are eeros.

I haven't a clue what's causing it.

When it happens I notice that although the Google speaker pair are still working, they repeat my broadcast to me before sending, but none of the other speakers receive it.

I'm having same problem after I do a message broadcast, all my speakers reproduce the message and that keeps flashing until I said stop listening.
something to add is that my speakers are not understanding if it is going to rain today anymore.

Hey folks,

Apologies for the delayed response. I understand how challenging it can be when you're experiencing issues with your Google Home and Nest devices. Let's investigate this further.

Please be aware that our team is already aware of the problem regarding the Home Mini's pulsing LED lights. For updates on this issue, please visit the main thread here. Also, make sure to use the keywords "Lights on the Home Mini, which are constantly pulsing." Learn more about how to send feedback in our Help Center.

For delayed response issues, please try connecting one of your devices to a mobile hotspot to see if you still experience the same issue. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router, and the other will be used to set up your Home Mini).

Cheers,

Muddi

This is not easy to do as the screens and speakers are intermittent with their fault.

Also if I go out of the house which I do often they will no longer be connected to my phone network.

I do have a wireless access point (netgwear WAP) which I can set up with different login details and connect a device or two to that.

I can't imagine it's a problem with the eero6 network though as I've searched eero6 forums and I can't see anyone who has similar or the same problem within their forums or with Google searches of eero6 and Google home combined.

Let me know if the WAP on a different WiFi login is a suitable test.

I will do it in the meantime.

Thanks.

Rob Allen.

Hi sir_bacharach,

Sorry for the delays. You can try the other wireless network and see if your devices will have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi
