Hello,
I know this issue is know already but every sign counts right!
I also are having diffeculties with a Google Net mini and it's connection with de WiFi network. i tried almost everything including a router only for this Nest mini but still it looses it's connection with the network. We did a reboot more then ones also with different rooms and distances from the router. I am also thinking about opening it up to see if this problem has to do with heating up and if there is a loos connetion someware it wil reset after cooling down (reboot by its selve).I also thought of buying a new one but if it has the same issue it won't help a thing and this one isn't that old yet. My gues is it is more a hardware problem than software but because of the amount of problems there are with the 2gen Nets it could also be sofware.
I would realy like to know what to do with this issue.
Regards, Ebby

Usually when they are loosing connection it has to do with the wifi network .. does your router do "band steering"..this can cause issues ..if you disable this function and reboot your router, see if this fixes your issue.

Hi, Thank you for your replay. I have to check that and wil try this this weekend. I hope it wil help. It it kind of weird though because it worked fine for almost a year. I will let you know if it works out here.

Wireless networks are strange for sure.. it depends on where you live as well.. I live in a fairly dense community so I am able to see about 30 different wifi networks , which can cause interference randomly, and I'm always tweaking settings to keep things running smooth!

Hi, I tried the option of turning off “ band steering” and I didn’t find this option in my router. I tried turning off the 2.4 G network and this morning the best mini rebooted by its selve? This was new for me. Our nest mini was off power for a couple of weeks because it didn’t work. I wil try once more to reboot it. A mother question. Is there a way to reload the firmware new ( not rebooting or factory reset)?

Hi Garrett,

That is my fault I did not see your question at the end of your last post, and normally posts are locked after a few days of inactivity.
No firmware is handled automatically at server level. You said you are resting it at your office, does it connect fine there so far?

Hi Ashepherdson, Yes I have it connected in my office at work now and I must say it is up and running for 7 day’s now. This is a long time for this mini Nest. I will keep it there for another week. After that I wil try it at home again. I hope it is my WiFi that is the problem but I didn’t change anything on it. The biggest difference is that in my office there are only 3 WiFi networks and at my home maybe 10 Networks visible.

Hello Ashepherdson,
I am sorry say that the Nest mini in my office now lost it’s WiFi connection to. This morning I tested it but it say’s now WiFi connection is active and I need to check my WIFI router. No difference from my home. What can we do now to get it back up and running. Regards! Edwin

Hello, This Night it went down again. This happens always in the Night. I think this is very odd! I am trying MAC Filtering now but I am not very hopeful. Any news from Google het? And how does escalating work?

HI, Today i treid something new. I have a webcam on the Nest and a Iphone where i can see if the Neset is still connected. What i did was a full reset and installed the Nest as discribed in the Google homa app. then i unpluged the power connector for 30 sec or so and then put the plug back in a socket. at that moment he already lost its wifi connection. I did a full resert again and reinstalled it but during the installation it gave a massage that a new firmware was available and if i wanted to install that so i said yes let try this. After that i did a couple of power offs but it stil finds its connection. any word from google jet?

Nothing yeah I can try re-escalating but are you saying it's staying connected now after the firmware update? It's possible that they updated something that has fixed this connection issue for you which would be great
11-12-2021 06:54 AM
I am not sayng that for 100% but for now i see a difference. I hope it wil stay this way.
I wil test it for a week or so and keep you posted!

Hello Ashepherdson,
Sorry to say this but the Nest went down from its WiFi again last Saturday night at 2:30. A can see that the app went white and came back with volume on 0% where it was on 40%. I can’t see nothing on the Nest it selve. The only thing a can do now is opening it up and test from the inside of the Nest.

Hello Jake,
somehow I could not replay but now I can. In the meanwhile I bought a new one but it would be nice to get it working again. I opened it up to see if I could find some loose connection but didn’t find any. It works for a day or too and either reboots or looses its WiFi connection. Any tips would be great. Best regards!
