Ambient EQ randomly not working

Lostinlos

My Nest Hub has started to randomly stop working when it comes to Ambient EQ. It’s currently lit up bright enough to land a plane despite the room being dark. It started last night and I had it unplugged all night to reset it. Doesn’t seem to have made a difference. This is the 2nd time this has happened. It’s just over a year old. I use this solely as an alarm clock which I can’t now use it for as I couldn’t get to sleep if I tried with how bright this thing is currently so no need for an alarm. Any suggestions?

Hi Lostinlos,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? Is it a Nest Hub or a Nest Hub (2nd Gen)? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? What time does the issue often happen?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, we need to check if the Ambient EQ is set to auto. If not, follow these steps:

  1. From the bottom of the display, swipe up.
  2. At the lower left hand corner, find the light icon.
  3. Check if there's an A in the light icon.
  4. If not, tap the light icon to turn Ambient EQ on.

Furthermore, check the status of the brightness offset:

  1. Make sure the mobile device is linked to the same account as the Google Nest display.
  2. Open the Google Home App .
  3. Select the Nest Hub display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings Settings and then Display.
  5. Locate the Auto-brightness offset slider.
    1. To increase the brightness, move the slider to the right (Brighter).
    2. To decrease the brightness, move the slider to the left (Dimmer).

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan
