Android phone can't cast to home speakers

I have two phones - a Samsung Note 20 ultra and an iphone 8.

When using any audio app on my Samsung, I can "see" the castable devices in my home, but when I select one and try to cast, there is no connection to the speaker and no casting occurs. The phone seems to think it is casting, though.

When using any audio app on my iphone, I can cast from the app as you normally would.

I don't believe this is a hardware issue with my speakers or wifi; it appears to be specific to my phone.

I cleared the cache on the home app and also deleted/reinstalled it an none of this solved the problem.
