Hi there,
I have an android tv, previously this tv was connected to a 'Home' which I had created in the google home app.
The problem is the following. I have created a new 'home' in the google home app (with the same google account on the same network. All devices are working as it should be, but unfortunately I can not link the tv to my new 'home' because it is stuck in the old one (where I can not get back in anymore). Some android tv's are giving the option to link the device to another home. But within mine, thats not possible. The only option I get is to ask if I can join the other home (the one I have deleted and ar not able to get back in to). So... No matter what, I can not unlink my tv and link it to another 'Home' in the google home app. The only way is to reset the android tv, but that is no option since everything is installed on this tv and installing everything again is even more time.
Are there any other options here?

I am having this EXACT same problem. I have two Sony Android TV's that I cannot unlink from a previous home and I cannot get into the old home. Hopefully somebody can give us a fix.

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out. Check out this link and see if the Home Connect is still linked. If so, you can remove it from there. Once done, relink it to the Google Home app.
Hope this helps.

Juni

Thank you for the link. There is nothing here showing anything related to another home or android TV. This does not resolve my problem unfortunately. Other ideas?

Hello aweiss586,
Chiming in, could you check this link? The link will route you to "Devices" on your Gmail account. Make sure to log in the same email linked to the Google Home app.
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hi Muddi. The only thing related to google home on there is my current home I have set up. I’m not sure what else I need to do here, but based on what I see and my options - this is unfortunately not a solution. There’s nothing here allowing me to edit a previous google home where two of my TVs still seem to live and I cannot access.

Hi aweiss586,
Thanks for trying. The last thing that we need to do is to reset the TV so we can set it up as a new device on the new home structure.

Muddi

Thank you, so just go ahead and do a factory reset then?

Hey aweiss586,
Yes please. Resetting the TV will clear all the settings. Once done, uninstall and re-install the Google Home app to refresh everything.
Let us know how it goes.

Hi Muddi and Princess. Resetting the TV seems to have worked, but now I’m not getting the option to use the remote control in the google home app for the TV. It says to make sure the TV software is up to date, but I checked and it indeed is up to date. Any ideas?
