Bluetooth Audio connection issues

d_ma

My issues started around a month or two ago. At first I thought it might be an issue on my computers side, since I use a linux pc and it felt like the issues started occuring after a kernel update. But now my chromebook is affected as well.

The way my issues present themselves are as followed: On my pc I can't even connect, it simply refuses. Even after forgetting the devices and having them couple as new devices. On my chromebook it connects but refuses to play audio to the Nest Audio speaker and instead just continues playin on my chromebook. I have two Nest Audio speakers and a Nest Hub that all show this exact behaviour.

Does anyone else have the same issues or know how to fix them? Restarting/Repluging didn't do it for me, tried several times.

The firmware on my Nest Audio devices is 437716 for system and 3.74.437716 for cast.

The firmware on my Nest Hub is 22.20240805.103.161 for system and 3.75.446835.

Hi d_ma,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you're experiencing difficulties connecting your Bluetooth audio, and I'm happy to assist you!

Before we proceed, I have a few questions:

  1. How often does this issue occur?
  2. What troubleshooting steps have you already attempted?
  3. Are you encountering any error messages?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Manuel

1. It happens every time I try to connect using either my chromebook or my linux desktop.

2. I tried rebooting both the computers as well as the speakers and I also tried "forgetting" them and pairing them anew

3. no error messages except for the desktop that just says "failed to pair"

Hi d_ma,

Thanks for replying. I know that you already tried to reboot, but I recommend rebooting both devices again. After that, uninstall the Google Home app. Once you reinstall the app, please try to pair them.

Let me know if this helps!

Manuel

Hi d_ma,

Thanks for trying the steps. For the next step, I recommend that you try a factory reset. To do this please visit Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays. Once you've done this, try connecting via Bluetooth.

Let me know if this helps!

Manuel

that didn't do the trick for me either, at least not for the pc. My chromebook does connect now but it also randomly disconnects and reconnects. But at least it works somehow
