Bluetooth transmision quality

Fernando823
Community Member

I have a Google nest Mini and I try to connect it to a larger Hi-Fi Bluetooth speakers, but the quality is horrible every few seconds there are glitches.

I have tried with three different Bluetooth speaker receptors and it's always the same. If I send the music directly from my phone from a much larger distance the quality is perfect, but if I sent it from the next Mini I always get the same issues.

I think this is an essential feature taking into account that the device from Google does not have a jack port.

I am really disappointed does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks

Google has been aware of this issue for over 2 years and continue to ignore it, and I'm starting to believe they have hobbled these things on purpose to drive people to purchase the larger speakers. They know it. We know it. They have been lying about fixing it for years and nothing has changed. Try to get a refund if you can.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help, @Jackbenimble.

@Fernando823, Thanks for reaching out. That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s check what’s going on. Are there other nearby Bluetooth devices turned on? Nearby high-voltage appliances or devices that use 2.4 GHz

You can do a factory data reset to put your Nest Mini back to its default settings and set it up again as a new device. Once set back up, try the feature again and observe if it will make a difference. Check the steps below for instructions on how to do the factory reset.

Here’s how to do the reset: On the side of your Google Nest Mini, switch the microphone off. The LEDs will turn orange. Press and hold the center of your Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. After 5 seconds, your Google Nest Mini will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more until you hear a sound confirming your Google Nest Mini is resetting.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni

Hi Juni and thanks for your answer.
It has not made any difference and yes, of course I have devices that use 2,4GHz, I have the Google Nest mini connected to a wifi!
I want to emphasize that if I send music from my smartphone to those speakers through bluetooth, it works perfectly.

Hi Fernando823,

Gotcha, How far away is your Nest Mini to your Bluetooth speaker? Do you have other Google speakers? If so, are you getting the same result from them? Also, could you provide the firmware version of your Nest Mini? See the instructions below:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi folks,

We know how important this is for you — our team is already working diligently on a fix. We'll check back in once we have an update.

Cheers,

Dan

This is really a major issue to play music into external speakers, apparently its been around for 2 years and you haven't done anything!

Shame on you!

How many times have you told us "We just fixed it, check it now!" Then we go, "It still doesn't work." and you cut/paste, "We know how important this is for you — our team is already working diligently on a fix." SO WHAT IS IT? Is it fixed? Are you in the middle of fixing it yet still telling your customers to "try it out". Are you just enjoying sending us on wild goose chases? Your company should be ashamed of the way it lies over and over and over again to customers just to get them off your back or to make it seem as if you've done anything.

Hi folks,

We understand how you feel — our team is doing their best to find a solution. We'll let you know as soon as possible once we have an update from them.

Thanks,

Dan

I'm getting so very tired of your team telling us how understanding you are of our feelings. These aren't feelings, these are facts. Your team is not doing their best. Your team is passing the buck onto their users to beta test. Either admit your hardware is so cheaply manufactured that there is no hope for improvement, or that your team is so incompetent they can't manage to wrap their mind around the most basic of bluetooth connectivity. None of my other devices have this problem connecting to a myriad of speakers, of varying ages. The speaker I'm trying to connect to is a foot away from the 2nd Gen Nest, and it always crackles and drops. ANY OTHER DEVICE CONNECTED TO THIS SPEAKER IS FINE. Either recall this failure of design, or admit it has been intentionally crippled so Google can sell their higher end speakers. It's painful to hear the excuses you make. Why don't you just come clean and admit this is never going to be resolved.

How is the progress? Have you reproduced the issue or you are just pretending to be working on it?
I can provide you with a video if you want.

Even better, I  can also upload it to Youtube, Twitter etc to show to the potential customers how **bleep**ty your product is, not able to compete with any cheap bluetooth transmisor from an unknown brand.

Any update?

I have noticed an update of the firmware to the version 1.56.348702 and I confirm the big is still present.

I'm having the same issue with an Anker Motion 3. Any idea when this will be fixed?

It won't be fixed. Google doesn't care about their terrible products or their terrible reputation for coddling users and promising fixes that never come until they abruptly kill that product and pretend it never existed. Find another ecosystem, as you cannot trust this one.
