Brand new Google nest speaker won't connect

I just got a Google nest audio speaker today It won't connect to my Wi-Fi and it won't play anything I went through the setup process and it's not working I'm not super tech savvy so I don't know what I'm missing

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you just purchased a brand-new Google Nest Audio speaker, and you are having trouble completing the setup, as it won't connect to your WiFi or play anything. Let's work together for a solution.

Before diving into complex settings, let's try the essential physical troubleshooting steps and confirm your network setup:

We need to clear the temporary memory of all devices involved (router, phone, speaker).

  • Reboot your Wi-Fi router/modem: Unplug the power cord, wait 60 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Reboot your Phone: Fully power down and restart the phone you are using for the Google Home app setup.
  • Reboot the Nest Audio: Unplug the power cord from the Nest Audio, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in.
  • Wait five minutes for everything to fully reconnect, then proceed to the next step.

Check for WiFi Compatibility

The Nest Audio requires a standard 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network. It will not connect to public networks that require a sign-in web page (like in a hotel or university) or to a 6 GHz network.

  • Is your WiFi network a home network that uses a password?
  • Do you have two different WiFi names (one ending in 2.4 GHz and one in 5 GHz)? If so, please try connecting your phone to the 2.4 GHz network before starting the setup.
