Camera is no longer streamed via automations

Hello everyone,

I have the following problem...

My ‘front door’ camera is no longer streaming via Google Home Automations.

Nothing happens.

When I enter a device name that doesn't exist, at least I get feedback that the device was not found, so my Google Nest Hub is receiving something.

When I actively address Google via ‘OK Google’ and tell it to stream the front door, it works without any problems.

It just doesn't work via Automations anymore. Neither via a script that I added recently.

What should happen in my automation:
When my philips hue outdoor sensor detect a motion, then it should display the frondoor camera. This was working fine, but since a couple of months.. nothing..

I'm using a AOSU camera C9C3CA11 and i have a Nest Hub 2nd Gen

It sounds like a recent Google Home update broke camera streaming in automations. Since manual voice commands still work, try deleting and recreating the automation, then relinking the AOSU camera in Google Home. If that fails, it’s likely a current platform bug.

My Reolink cameras are having that issue too. Started about a week ago after adding some voice starter phrases to the automation.

Although I have other Automations with exactly the same custom command action to show a camera on the Google Nest Hub Max that are working.

But my Tuya (Smart life) camera is working in automations with no problem.

Hi @Serqiinh0@SmartHomeH-TAGS

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your Google Home automation to display the front door camera on your Google Nest Hub is no longer working. Even though the camera streams fine with voice commands. No worries, I'm here to help!

To isolate the main issue, please try the following:

  • Reboot your mobile device.
  • Clear the Google Home app cache.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  • Ensure the mobile device is running the latest versions of Android or iOS.
  • Ensure your camera devices are also up to date with the firmware version.

I appreciate your input @pakeeza24

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Juan

Same problem here since a few weeks with a reolink doorbell. Via voice command it works without issues, but when in an automation flow, it does not do anything.

I noticed there is a new flow for adding automation tasks, when I use the new flow, I cannot see any triggers for the doorbell device. When going back to the old flow, which is still an option currently, I can choose the correct trigger for the doorbell.

Update: I had a breakthrough with this issue, but I don't know how to fix it.

Automation:

Trigger: Time or light turns on

Custom action: Show Front Spotlight (Reolink camera)

Play on: Kitchen  (Nest Hub)

But the live camera footage would stream to My Bedroom TV (Chromecast Ultra).

This surprised me as I never have this streaming device plugged in. One time I heard that the Kitchen said that the stream was going to my Bedroom TV (Chromecast).

I thought it might be the Default TV setting for each speaker, but that didn't help.

I worked out my issue.

I poked and prodded everything, but I'm pretty sure it was a naming and automation solution in the Google Home app.
