Can’t control my Nest Speaker from the App

charlottemay_xo

I have successfully set up my 2 Nest (2nd Gen) speakers in my Google home app and can see from the overview screen when they are playing media. However, when I try to tap in to a speaker to adjust volume, change settings… I get an error message saying the speaker is not available. No amount of restarting the device or the app is fixing this. It is occurring on both speakers. Any suggestions?

Hi @charlottemay_xo,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you can’t control your Nest Speakers on the Google Home App. Help's here!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • When did the situation start?
  • Did you have this inconvenience before?

In the meantime, let's check this tip:

  • Update Google Home app: To get the most out of your Google Home devices, make sure your Google Home app is updated to the latest version.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Hi @gmelanymelissa,

I've recently moved house and the situation started when I moved to my new house and set up my speakers. They’re definitely connected to the internet though as I can stream things using Google assistant and can control the volume in the app from the favourites screen, just not when I then tap in to the speaker.

This is the first time I’ve had this problem.

I’ve made sure I have the latest version of the app, the problem still persists.

Thanks for your help!

Charlotte
